For thirty nine years Jean Sweet has navigated her career as a hair and makeup artist, adding skills and experiences along the journey. She began as a hairstylist and salon owner after finishing college (BS in Education, History ) in 1974. In 1986, Jean became a freelance hair and makeup artist for fashion print – commercial and editorial. For seven years she worked in Chicago, Miami, Madrid, Spain and New York. Her experiences with fashion shoots gave her the desire to become a photographer. In the early nineties, Jean changed career paths and became a wearable artist, with a studio at home, to spend more time with her husband, Jack.
In 2000, Jean and Jack moved to Chicago where she worked for a fashion designer Patricia Rhodes as the director of sales and marketing for three years. In 2004, Jean started curvCollaborative LLC, her freelance/consulting business, servicing the professional beauty salon business. In 2007, Jean started to purchase photography equipment to satisfy client needs for good beauty photography with a special emphasis on editorial and commercial hair styling images. It is this rich background that gives Jean the ability to produce quality “beauty” photography.
